When my sheep arrived they were MV accredited. They came with paperwork which said it would run out on 14,12,22, I assumed that this would be done by a visit from the vet! Of course nothing is ever straightforward and having booked the vet for 14th I found out that I needed to register with SRUC sheep and goat health schemes! A phone call and two emails later I had lots of forms to download, including a site check by the vet. I phoned to let the vet know….

So sheep in the barn, and chance to try out the sheep hurdle we made, the vet took blood, went through the forms with me, did a site check, to ensure we couldn’t be contaminated by other sheep and promised to phone after checking she had all the necessary form! Job done?…..

December 16th 2022 Important details

A phone call from the vet! Apparently 1 I have to have had the sheep for six months, before they are blood tested 2 The lambs need to be 12months old 3 I need to fill in a membership form, given I already filled in all the forms sent to me! So the vet has kindly emailed another form for me to fill in. The bloods she took couldn’t be used, but at least we have been site checked. The lambs will be 12 months old in March, I could only have the older girls tested in 6 months, February, so I think it would be better to have all tested together!
