It is a requirement of DEFRA that all sheep and goats be counted annually, this is purely a statistics exercise. On the morning of 1.12.22 I started the usual confused online search for information how to comply! I duly found information for last year and eventually, by adding 2022, to the search, got onto the Gov.uk site, so I discovered that 1 I should have received forms and a free post envelope, by the end of November, 2, I could log in online! 3 My Holding number didn’t work, Panic time again! 4 If I hadn’t had post by the 5th ie. today I could phone a helpline, So for anyone like me, here it is! The Office of National Statistics, DEFRA Farm surveys team 03000 600 140, I spoke to a very helpful person, who only had an old version of my details! Apparently that went back to 2006! When we had just horses! So despite all of my time spent on the phone, at the beginning of August……….. Hopefully my details are now correct, I should receive paperwork in a couple of weeks and if not phone again!
